How to Participate
There are three options if you are interested in sharing your story for the Disability Visibility Project®:
- You can go to a StoryCorps recording booth in person and record your story. StoryCorps is located in Chicago, Atlanta, and various cities on their Mobile Tour. *Please check the StoryCorps website for information on COVID-19 restrictions.
- You can record remotely with friend from 2 separate locations using StoryCorps Connect
- You can record a story using the StoryCorps app (anytime, anywhere from your smartphone).

Please Note: Any images, quotes or content submitted to the Disability Visibility Project® may be used for our own purposes and cross-posted on our various social media platforms.

Could someone PLEASE contact me about this? We were already considering a similar project to bring awareness to the plight of kids with disabilities – we wanted to match a recording on storycorp with a picture of the child/family & start a website. I have a pediatric practice in Northwestern North Carolina that pulls kids with chronic illness, medical fragility, developmental delays, school & mental health issues from 6 rural counties. Hi, as far as I know StoryCorps has 3 locations (Chicago, San Francisco, Atlanta) and they have a mobile booth that travels across the country. Here’s a link to their mobile booth schedule:

Hi Alice,
The International Association of Peer Supporters (iNAPS) Annual Conference will be in Atlanta this year on October 13 and 14. Would it be possible for the StoryCorp mobile booth to come to the conference? We anticipate between 400-500 people who are all in recovery from mental health and/or substance use conditions — who have been hired (or volunteer) to help others in discovery of recovery. It would be an amazing opportunity to interview people who have been helping not only other people, but entire systems transform to one that better respects people with these disabilities.

Thank you so much for your interest in our program! The StoryCorps Mobile Booth plans their tour over a year in advance so they will not be in Atlanta since they have an actual recording booth there. One option is to post something to your meeting attendees ahead of time, encouraging them to make a reservation at the Atlanta StoryCorps location.
