Happy New Year from the Disability Visibility Project
The Disability Visibility Project kicked off in July 2014 and since it’s almost the midpoint of our project, I’d like to express my gratitude to the many people who recorded their stories at StoryCorps, supported our project, and engaged in conversations with the DVP on Facebook and Twitter.
The response by disability communities across the US has been astounding and there’s more to come in 2015! Look for DVP days in Chicago this spring and some other surprises as well.
As of December 31, 2014:
- +60 recordings by people with disabilities from all 3 StoryCorps locations and their Mobile Tour
- 79 DVP Media Partners (individuals, bloggers, organizations and companies) that helped us spread the word about the project
- 228 blog posts
- 530 @DisVisibility Twitter followers
- 1715 DVP Facebook group members
There are a lot of folks that want to participate but do not live near a StoryCorps location. Everyone is welcome to write a guest blog post for our website with their story. For any questions or comments, feel free to reach out: DisabilityVisibilityProject@gmail.com
